This series is decent, but imo, could be better

***First Season 6 Episodes ***First off, I read and own the first 17 Alex Cross books, all first edition hardcovers. This character and the world Patterson has created have been my go-to for fictional entertainment for years. I’ve reread all 17 at least twice and reread Along Came a Spider every time I go on vacation.

Alex nils series is about the family dynamics between Alex. This was very much lacking in the amazing adaptation of Kiss the Girls with Morgan Freeman. (Less said about Along came a Spider) I’ve seen showrunner say they are making new stories in the cross world.

That’s not what I want

Although the series loosely adapts the books, injects new stories and ideas, which I prefer over entirely new stories and villains. Every time Gary Soneji’s name was dropped on the show, I was excited, but my excitement was immediately followed by disappointment. It’s rare to see such a rich and psychologically twisted villain brought to life on the small screen.

(The movie flopped for him too)Alex Cross has so many great villains in the series, it’s a shame they didn’t realize them on screen His family is perfectly cast and Hodge is probably the best version of Alex we’ve seen on screen . The tired character of the eccentric boss who needs to drive the narrative of a case is boring and overplayed. I think I’ll watch season 2, but if it’s not a little more book-oriented, I think I’ll enjoy re-reading the books.
