The set design, choice of colors and costumes make it an aesthetic delight almost too extravagant to watch.My problem is that the film never finds the depth that should be required when grappling with such a serious and deep subject.

But the long dialogues felt wooden and too formulaic for my taste

The visual richness of the film amazed me, but it never touched me emotionally, which is what I would have expected from a great director like Almodovar.
